Developer, Director, and now dedicated VP, Li Dong Cheng, one of our earliest team members, shares his reflections on the company’s beginnings and how its growth continues to inspire his commitment to Doxim every day.
This anniversary marks a significant milestone not only in Doxim’s existence but in my professional career. As “Doxim Employee Number Two”, I have so much to reflect on, from an incredible career trajectory to being at the forefront of technology’s rapid evolution since the dot-com era.
I joined Doxim as a developer in 2000. Over the years, I became R&D Director and was eventually promoted to VP of Software Development.
One of my most memorable and proudest achievements during my long tenure is seeing, first-hand, our incredible team spirit.
In 2000, web technology was in its infancy. Google searches weren’t a thing. I remember my team rushing to bookstores to find the latest books on web technology. In my second month at Doxim, I vividly recall the cheers when I presented a Web 2.0 equivalent technology using plain JavaScript.
This innovation paved the way for the wider adoption of Doxim’s SaaS-based Enterprise Content Management (ECM), keeping us years ahead of our competitors, who struggled to deliver their web products.
With Strategic Growth Comes Great Pride
The company has experienced some big evolutions over the years, and I’m incredibly proud to have witnessed the way our founder, Chris Rasmussen, identified the right market to invest in.
With Chris leading the way, Doxim quickly dominated Canada’s credit union industry thanks to our flagship product, ECM. The decision to develop a second product, Doxim Document Factory (DDF), enabled us to offer document creation, printing, and mailing services to a vast customer base.
“Powered by Doxim” expanded into multiple industries, making us one of Canada’s top 50 valuable and rapidly growing companies. With investor funding, we’ve had the opportunity to expand our business in North America and become a global leader in Customer Communication Management (CCM).

Doxim’s secret to success lies in our unwavering commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service. Two things that I believe are the reasons customers stay. Doxim’s dedication to continuous innovation is what’s kept me engaged for so long. I’m lucky to have been given the opportunity to be a part of that evolution. Our continued growth inspired me to take on new challenges, which created opportunities to contribute directly to Doxim’s success.
The past 25 years have flown by as I’ve enjoyed my daily journey of building Doxim’s technology. With Doxim’s outstanding executive leadership, I’m thrilled to see how our innovations continue to positively impact the lives of our people and our clients. That’s what pushes me to keep doing what I’m doing every day, and I’m excited for what’s to come in the years ahead.
